Privacy policy

To respect your privacy, Balanced collects as little information as possible. It only tracks usage through on-chain data and Plausible Analytics, and the latter is anonymised to avoid identifying individual users.

The less we know about you, the better.

By using Balanced, you agree to this privacy policy. It may receive the occasional update, but our respect for your privacy will never waver.

What we collect

Wallet interactions: If you connect a wallet to Balanced, it will retrieve on-chain information required to use the app, including your wallet address, supported token balances, recent Balanced transactions, position details, and past/pending rewards.

Contract interactions: Balanced can track on-chain activity from the smart contracts, including the number of participants in each activity, total value locked, transaction sizes and amounts, 24-hour trading volume, and fees collected.

Analytics data: Balanced uses Plausible, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to learn how people access and interact with its web properties. Plausible data is high-level, and does not track or store IPs or any other personal identifiers. Analytics include a visitor’s location (country, region, city), device (type, size, OS, browser), page visits, and referral source.

How we use your data

Wallet details: Balanced only uses your wallet address to retrieve relevant on-chain data, including recent Balanced transactions, position details, and supported token balances. All transactions require a wallet signature.

Analytics: Plausible provides insight into how people access and engage with the Balanced app and website. We do not sell this data, and it cannot be used to link a transaction to someone in a specific location.

How we protect your data

Data minimisation: The best way to protect your data is to avoid collecting it in the first place. Balanced collects the minimum information necessary for the app to operate.

Anonymity: Balanced does not use cookies or other tracking tools, and we cannot combine Plausible Analytics with on-chain data to identify, track, or locate an individual user. Your name, age, gender, IP address, specific location, and any other personally identifiable information are never known to us.

Security: Balanced follows industry-standard security protocols and practices to protect its users and safeguard any data in transit, including HTTPS (which encrypts traffic), and DNSSEC (which prevents a fake site from taking over the domain).

Information we share

Service providers: We do not store personal data, so we cannot share it with third parties. Plausible collects anonymised usage data on our behalf, but it does not have any personal information that could identify you.

Legal obligations: We will disclose information when required by law, but we can only share what we have: wallet addresses and transaction hashes, anonymised analytics, and any details provided voluntarily via support interactions.

Data retention

We keep Plausible’s anonymised usage data to track Balanced’s performance over time. Transaction details are stored on public blockchains and cannot be removed or altered.

Support requests

If you need help with a Balanced transaction, we may ask for your wallet address or transaction hash. This information allows Balanced’s community support team to assist you, but it does mean they can associate your wallet address with your Discord account.

Balanced does not store or use your wallet data beyond its support channels, and support tickets are closed once a problem is resolved. However, Discord has its own privacy policies that we do not control, so you should exercise caution when sharing any identifying details in public or semi-public channels. You can always create a throwaway account to keep your Discord identity private.

Your choices

If you use Balanced (or anything else in crypto), you acknowledge that you cannot remove or modify blockchain records.

Plausible is cookie-free and does not identify or track individuals, so you cannot opt-out. To use Balanced undetected, install a privacy-focused browser extension like uBlock Origin.
