Balanced only tracks usage through on-chain data. We do not use analytics. The less we know about you, the better.
What we collect
Wallet interactions: If you connect a wallet to Balanced, it will retrieve on-chain data required to use the app, including your wallet address, supported token balances, recent Balanced transactions, position details, and pending rewards. When you make a transaction on Balanced, it will be recorded so you can view your activity history across devices and on future visits.
Contract interactions: Balanced can track on-chain activity from third-party smart contracts, including the number of participants, total value locked, transaction sizes and amounts, and 24-hour trading volume.
Forum registration: The Balanced forum requires an email address to create an account. We do not use these addresses for marketing or share them with third parties.
Blog subscriptions: If you subscribe to receive updates via the Balanced blog, Ghost (our blog platform) will collect and store your email address. We only use your email address to send you content you’ve opted into: a copy of each blog post. You can unsubscribe at any time via the Unsubscribe link in these emails, after which your address will be deleted from our subscriber list.
Support requests: If you open a support request via Discord, we may ask for your wallet address or transaction hash. It would then be possible to associate your wallet with your Discord account. This information does not leave Balanced’s support channels, but Discord has their own privacy policy that we do not control, so you should exercise caution when sharing any potentially identifiable information. You can always create a throwaway Discord account to keep your identity private.
How we protect your data
Data minimisation: To protect your data, we avoid collecting it in the first place. Balanced uses the minimum information necessary for the app to operate, and it only logs on-chain transaction data so you can view your history on future visits.
Anonymity: Balanced does not use cookies or any other tracking tools, so we cannot identify, track, or locate an individual. Your name, age, gender, IP address, specific location, and any other personally identifiable information are never known to us.
Security: Balanced follows industry-standard security protocols and practices to protect its users and safeguard any data in transit, including HTTPS (which encrypts traffic) and DNSSEC (which prevents a fake site from taking over the domain).
Information we share
Service providers: We self-host the Balanced forum, so email addresses are stored on our own infrastructure and are not shared with third parties. Blog subscriber emails are stored by Ghost, who have their own privacy policy which is out of our control. We do not use email addresses for marketing beyond the updates you’ve subscribed to, nor do we share our subscriber list with others. Aside from email addresses, we do not store any personal data, so we’re not in a position to share it.
Legal obligations: We will disclose information when required by law, but we can only share what we have: wallet addresses, transaction hashes, and any details provided voluntarily via the Balanced forum and support interactions.
Data retention
Transaction data: We log all transactions submitted via Balanced so you can browse your history on future visits. We only have access to transaction data stored on public blockchains, which cannot be removed or altered.
Forum accounts: Email addresses are retained as long as your forum account exists. You can delete your account at any time to remove your email from our system.
Blog subscriptions: Subscriber email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe via the link in any email we send you.
